About EAS-ed

The accreditation process naturally requires enormous amounts of labor, costs, communication, travel and paperwork for school principals, diocesan superintendents and the Accreditation Program Manager (APM). In FY 08-09, the FCCAC and the Bishops approved the development of an online accreditation workflow management system to more dramatically centralize and streamline the process for all participants. This first phase automated the accreditation program by one-third. In August, 2010, EAS-ed will be fully developed.

The FCC contracted with Turnip Digital, Inc. (TDI), an online learning management provider, to begin the system’s development. This first phase allowed school principals to access and enter survey responses, while superintendents or designees could complete online survey validations, limited teaching endorsements and waiver requests, plans of study and other supporting documents as needed. The initial system has significantly reduced hours spent, costs incurred, and paper used on accreditation.

In light of these the economic downturn, the Bishops directed FCC staff to pursue grants from outside sources to finish automating EAS-ed, thereby easing the work and budget demands on all the participants of the accreditation process while maintaining the high quality of education of FCCAP schools.

The Raskob Foundation, based in Delaware, was the first foundation to approve monies for EAS-ed. An additional foundation, which chooses to work anonymously, became the second foundation to do the same. These two foundations have allowed the FCCAP to fully expand EAS-ed.
